Crystal Hudson
Assistant Coach, University of West Alabama
AVCA: Who or what made you want to pursue coaching?
Crystal Hudson: This past spring I had the opportunity to help train the Birmingham Southern volleyball team near my hometown. It was only a one month commitment but I knew the experience would determine if I would try to pursue a coaching career. I was astonished at how hard these ladies were willing to work. I looked forward to seeing them progress through the process. They motivated me and I wanted to teach them all I could within that short period of time. Though they may not know it, they are the reason I decided to pursue collegiate coaching.
AVCA: Who or what has been your biggest influence?
CH: Over the years, the young girls I've had opportunity to work with during the summers are my inspiration. They have the potential to do so many things. I not only teach them volleyball skills but I also try and prepare them for what's to come. Though many of them may never play volleyball I encourage them be the best that they can be in every aspect of their lives. I sincerely care about their futures and want them to exceed their own expectations.
AVCA: Please list your past and present coaching/playing experiences:

AVCA: What are you most looking forward to at the 2011 Annual Convention?
CH: This is the only time of year that the best coaches in the country openly share their ideas for player/training development. I plan to take FULL advantage of the seminars while meeting other people/coaches who all share a common interest. I know this experience is going to help me grow.
