AVCA: Who or what has made you want to pursue coaching?
Jennifer Charles: My sister is the reason why I am back doing what I love. In the beginning of 2010, my sister at the age of 34 had 2 massive strokes which caused her to be hospitalized for 4 months. My sister and I are extremely close. Through her struggles and watching her fight through her illness, she reminded me that I have the abilities to accomplish anything regardless of what challenges come my way. She reminded me to be confident, pursue my passion, and to not settle but to move forward and seize all the opportunities that lie ahead of me.
AVCA: Who or what has been your biggest coaching influence?
JC: I believe some of my biggest coaching influences would have to be all of the coaches I've played for in the past. These coaches have influenced me to pursue my passion in the coaching field. Each one of them has impacted my life on and off the court. I believe each of them has deposited key tools and qualities into my life in that have contributed to my success. Each coach has a remarkable story about their coaching journey and now they all are coaching at respectable schools with winning volleyball programs.

AVCA: What are you most looking forward to at the 2010 AVCA Annual Convention?
JC: At this year AVCA Annual Convention, I am looking forward to learning as much as I can from all the educational sessions that are being offered. I'm excited about the opportunity to network and to meet coaches from all levels of volleyball.
