AVCA: Who or what has made you want to pursue coaching?
Makini Thompson: I want to pursue coaching to give girls that otherwise would not get the opportunity to play volleyball a chance to participate in a sport that I love that has given me many opportunities in life.
AVCA: Who or what has been your biggest coaching influence?
MT: My biggest coaching influence has been the coaches in Jamaica who have little to no resources to help them but give so much of their time and knowledge without a second thought.
AVCA: Please list your past and present coaching/playing experiences:
MT: I played at Florida State University and professionally in Switzerland for Langenthal VBC. I also play currently for Jamaica's national team. At FSU I was ACC 1st team and All Region and Honorable Mention All-American
AVCA: What are you most looking forward to at the 2011 AVCA Annual Convention?
MT: I am looking forward to meeting people with the same goals as me and being able to share ideas and experiences.
