Mia Jerkov, a 6-3 sophomore outside hitter for the University of California, Berkely (13-5), has been chosen the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I National Player of the Week for posting back-to-back 38-plus kill outings against Pacific-10 Conference opponents. Jerkov opened the weekend with a school-record 39 kills and collected 26 digs in the Golden Bears' 3-2 loss to Washington. She then helped Cal to a five-game upset of then-No. 17 Washington State with 38 kills. Jerkov is the first player in Cal history to record 30 or more kills in two consecutive matches and the fifth ever to tally 30 or more kills in a single match. With the addition of two block assists, Jerkov totaled a Pac-10 single-match record with 40 points against the Cougars. She averaged 7.70 kills, 4.20 digs and hit .317 (77-26-161) over the course of the two matches.
