Shannon Torregrosa, a 6-2 junior outside hitter for the fourth-ranked University of Arizona (15-3), has been chosen the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I National Player of the Week for leading the Wildcats to wins over then-No. 3 USC and then-No. 6 UCLA in three games each. Torregrosa, who entered last weekend with a .146 attack percentage, exploded for averages of 5.83 kills, 1.00 blocks and 2.00 digs per game while attacking at a .418 percentage on 67 swings. She tallied 19 kills, a .405 hitting percentage, four blocks and five digs against USC on Oct. 25. Torregrosa accounted for 34 percent of the Wildcats' 67 offensive points against the Trojans. She followed that performance with 16 kills and a career-high .433 attack percentage against UCLA on Oct. 26.
