Nicole McCray, a 6-1 sophomore middle blocker from Longview, Texas, earned the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I National Player of the Week award after leading then-No. 9 Florida to straight-game victories over UNLV, Ball State and then-No. 16 Wisconsin in the SunTrust Invitational. McCray, the invitational's most valuable player, posted a career-high 20 kills versus Ball State en route to hitting .533 for the match. During the victory over Wisconsin, she tallied five blocks and produced nine kills on 18 attacks. For the weekend, McCray averaged 4.18 kills, 1.94 digs and 1.41 blocks per game. She contributed a .414 attack percentage to the Gator offense, in addition to three service aces in nine games. McCray now has earned her second consecutive all-tournament honor to start the 2000 season.
