Liz Holmes, a senior middle blocker for then-No. 25 Northern Kentucky, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. She earned the award for her strong all-around performance in leading the Norse to wins against tough conference opponents, Rockhurst and Drury. In the match against Rockhurst, Holmes picked up her first double-double of the week, leading her team with 16 kills in 35 attempts with only one error for a .429 hitting percentage in the sweep. She also chipped in 11 digs, one ace and four block assists in the win.  Holmes followed that up with her second double-double of the week, putting away 27 kills on 41 attempts with six errors for a .512 hitting percentage in NKU's 3-1 win over Drury. She also had 16 digs and two block assists in the match.  Holmes became NKU's all-time kills leader that night when she put away number 1,703 of her career; she now has 1,714 and counting.  For the week, Holmes hit at a .474 clip while averaging 6.14 kills, 3.86 digs and 6.71 points per game. This is the fifth time a player from Northern Kentucky has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week award, and the first since Kristin Koralewski on November 1, 2004. The Norse are coached by Carlos Chia.
