Jessica Granados, a senior right side/opposite for then-No. 4 Cal State University, San Bernardino, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. Granados was named Most Valuable Player of the Coyote Classic, which included an upset of then-top-ranked and defending national champion Concordia-St. Paul, and vaulted the Coyotes to the top spot on the CBS College Sports Network/AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll this week. Against the Golden Bears, Granados tallied 23 kills on 37 attempts with just five errors (.486), while adding seven digs and three blocks in the sweep. After playing in just two sets in a win over Shippensburg, Granados registered 17 kills in the last match of the weekend, a three-set victory over then-No. 15 Lewis. The 2007 AVCA First-Team All-American hit .364 in that match, and contributed four digs, an ace and one block in the win. For the week, Granados tallied 42 kills (5.85 kills per set), and hit .385. This honor marks the second time Granados has been named Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week (October 8, 2007), and the fourth time overall for a Coyotes' player. Cal State San Bernardino is coached by Kim Cherniss.
