Maggie McNamara, a junior setter for then No. 3 Concordia-University-St. Paul, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week after helping lead her team to the Metro/Regis Premier Challenge Championship with a perfect 4-0 record and wins over three nationally ranked opponents. McNamara started the tournament off with a 37-assist, seven-dig and one-ace performance en route to a three-set sweep of then No. 20 Central Missouri. In the Golden Bears' next match, she dished out 39 assists, two digs and one ace in a 3-0 win over Regis to end the first day of play. On the final day of the tournament, she opened with 44 assists and seven digs in a sweep of then No. 10 Florida Southern, and then finished up with 55 assists, five digs, two aces and three blocks in a 3-1 win over then No. 6 West Texas A&M. For the week, McNamara averaged 13.36 assists and 1.62 digs per set, which helped her earn MVP honors for the tournament. This is the sixth time an athlete from Concordia-St. Paul has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors. The Golden Bears are coached by Brady Starkey.
