Jessica Lucia, a senior right side for third-ranked Concordia-St. Paul, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. Lucia led her team to two wins over CSTV/AVCA Top 25 teams this past week. In a sweep of #24 Southwest Minnesota State, Lucia planted 23 kills and added nine digs, hitting an incredible .767. Later in the week, against #25 Wayne State (Neb.), Lucia recorded a double-double, as she registered 21 more kills coupled with 11 digs, while hitting .400. For the week, the Golden Bear senior averaged an amazing 7.33 kills per game, while hitting a very impressive .557. She also added 3.33 digs per game and 1.17 blocks per game. Lucia is the fourth Golden Bear to win the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week; she won the award in November of 2004. The Concordia-St. Paul Head Coach is Brady Starkey. |
