Jessica Lucia, a 5-9 junior right side/opposite hitter for third-ranked Concordia-St. Paul (28-4, 14-0 Northern Sun), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. She averaged 6.62 points, 5.92 kills, 0.62 blocks, 4.23 digs and 1.31 assists per game in four victories last week. Lucia tallied 26 kills, 22 digs, four blocks and five assists while hitting .368 against fifth-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 8. She hit .438 with 17 kills, 11 digs and four assists in a sweep of Bemidji State on Nov. 10. Lucia provided 20 kills, 10 digs and three assists while hitting .559 in a sweep of Northern State on Nov. 11. She provided 14 kills, 12 digs and five assists in a sweep of Southwest Minnesota State on Nov. 12. Lucia averages 5.74 points, 4.98 kills, 0.78 blocks, 3.25 digs and 0.68 assists per game this season with a .324 attack percentage. She is the third Golden Bear recipient of the national award as Joy Wubben was honored twice last year. The Concordia-St. Paul head coach is Brady Starkey.
