Laura Ellerbusch, a 6-0 senior middle blocker for University of Southern Indiana (10-7, 2-1 Great Lakes Valley), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. She paced the Screaming Eagles to three victories, including an upset of then-fifth-ranked North Alabama, by averaging 4.67 points, 4.00 kills, 1.08 digs, 0.75 blocks and 0.25 aces per game. Ellerbusch contributed 19 kills, five digs, three blocks and a .429 attack percentage in a five-game upset of previously undefeated North Alabama. She added a .529 attack percentage with 10 kills and three block versus Kentucky Wesleyan. Ellerbusch hit .593 versus Tiffin with 19 kills, five digs and three blocks. She averages 4.35 points, 3.35 kills, 0.97 blocks and 2.18 digs per game while hitting .298 for the season. Ellerbusch is the first Screaming Eagle to receive the national honor. The Southern Indiana head coach is Leah Mercer.
