Agenda
I Kathy DeBoer Introduction

New AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer introduced herself to the committee and expressed her enthusiasm about returning to work in intercollegiate athletics.

II Open-date/Athletic Link

Members expressed problems with using the Athletic Link open date tool available through the AVCA Web site. Members were unable to figure out how to sort the results by, date, division, and region.

After the call, Kathy DeBoer contacted Sandy Vivas at Athletic Link and she provided the following solution: At the top where it says: "Search for Free", click on "competition dates" and you can put in your search by sport, month, year, division level, state and gender classification. If you want to save this search and have it emailed to you each day, register, go to the search control panel, create and save a search. As always, the more specific items you search for, the narrower the results.

III Division III National Championship

Members talked about ways to increase attendance at the D-III national championship. Ideas included running clinics and marketing them towards high schools coaches. Timing issues would make the difficult however as the high school championships coincide with the D-III championships.

IV: Bill Rogers Club Coaching Question

Bill brought up a problem with the 50-mile radius for club coaching. Feels the rule is unjustly affects those in rural areas. Bill was given Sarah Weier, the AVCA legislative guru, contact info in order to pursue the issue further.

V Awards:

Questions arose about whether of not provisional teams are eligible for awards. In order to be considered for awards, the team must be eligible for the NCAA D-III Championship.

Call ended at 12:15 AM ET. Next call Monday April, 3, 11:00 AM ET
