Laura Marske, a 6-3 senior middle blocker for University of South Dakota (14-10, 6-1 NCC), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after sparking the Coyotes to victories over two ranked opponents. Marske averaged 3.40 kills and 0.90 blocks per game while hitting .347 in five-game victories over sixth-ranked Minnesota Duluth and 21st-ranked Augustana (S.D.). She connected for 16 kills on a .364 hitting percnetage versus Augustana on Oct. 22. Marske charted 18 kills on a .333 hitting percentage with five blocks in an upset of Minnesota Duluth. She improved her season averages to 2.97 kills and 0.87 blocks per game, while raising her season attack percentage to .342. South Dakota moved into first place in the North Central Conference for the first time in school history. Marske is the first Coyote to win the national award in school history. The South Dakota head coach is Brian Lamppa.
