Joy Wubben, a 5-11 senior outside hitter/middle blocker for fourth-ranked Concordia University-St. Paul (20-1, 8-0 Northern Sun), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after sparking the Golden Bears to three victories. Wubben averaged 5.08 points, 4.83 kills, 1.67 blocks, 0.92 digs and 0.25 aces per game for the week while hitting .388 on 116 swings. She connected for 25 kills and a .353 attack percentage against sixth-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 12. Wubben added 10 blocks and two digs in the match against the former NSIC opponent. She added 15 kills, eight blocks and eights digs versus Minnesota State, State while hitting .400 on Oct. 15. Wubben finished the week by hitting .429 with 18 kills versus Winona State on Oct. 16. She increased her season averages to 4.31 kills and 1.49 blocks per game. Wubben is the first Golden Bear to win the national award in school history.
