DIII No. 7 Vassar Sweeps Past Polytechnic

New York, N.Y. - Vassar's men's volleyball team remained unbeaten in North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) play this afternoon, with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-19, 30-20) victory over Polytechnic. The win improves Vassar, currently ranked No.7 in the AVCA/CSTV Poll, to 4-0 in the NECVA's Metro Division and 9-5 overall.

Vassar will return home on Thursday, February 21 for a 7:00 pm NECVA match against Mount St. Vincent at Keynon Hall. On Friday and Saturday, the Brewers will host their Invitational Tournament that will be played in Walker Field House starting at 6:00 pm. Participating teams include No. 1 Nazareth, No. 15 Philadelphia Biblical and Johnson & Wales.

The Brewers got an exceptional hitting performance from sophomore Phil Tully (Huntington, NY/Walt Whitman) who had 11 kills and hit .600 (11-2-15). Freshman Evan Fredericksen (Menlo Park, CA/Menlo Park) continued his strong play with 10 kills and a .389 attack percentage (10-3-18).

Senior Kofi James (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion College) had six kills on the afternoon and fellow senior Tom Pawlowski (Havertown, PA/Haverford) had five.

Freshman Andres Posada (Miami, FL/Ransom Everglades) led Vassar in set assists (15) and digs (4). Junior Ben Coleman (Brookline, MA/Brookline) had 11 assists, four away from tying a career high.
