Kellie Haire, a 5-3 senior setter for Presbyterian College (31-4, 13-1 SAC), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after pacing the Blue Hose to a 3-0 week, including road wins over Newberry, Barton and Anderson. In the process, Presbyterian earned the South Atlantic Conference regular season championship. Haire averaged 16.40 assists, 3.20 digs and 0.40 aces per game as the Blue Hose swept two of the three matches. She tallied at least 52 assists in all three matches and led Presbyterian to a .361 team attack percentage. Haire charted 59 assists and 12 digs versus Newberry on Nov. 4, then added 52 assists and 11 digs as the Blue Hose hit .495 as a team against Barton. She is the first player in school history to compile 4,000-career assists (4,213) and 1,000-career digs (1,185). Haire averages 13.91 assists and 2.60 digs per game for the 2003 season, both totals surpassed by her performance last week. The Presbyterian College head coach is Edwin Allen.
