Kristy Sain, a 5-7 senior setter for Cal State L.A. (11-7), has been named the AVCA/Sports Imports Division II National Player of the Week for guiding the Golden Eagles to three sweeps of league foes, including an upset of top-ranked and previously unbeaten Cal State San Bernardino. Sain's squad posted a solid .361 hitting percentage in the three wins, and she had a perfect nine games with zero ball-handling errors and attack miscues in hitting .733 (11-0-15). She averaged 15.11 assists, 2.67 digs, 1.22 kills and 0.56 aces per game on the week. Sain posted 44 assists, four kills and nine digs in the Golden Eagles' win over Cal State Domingues Hills to open the week, then followed that with 42 assists in the upending of Cal State San Bernardino. Sain became the Golden Eagles' all-time assists leader with 50 against Cal Poly Pomona. She has now dished out 4,458 career assists.
