II. AVCA Convention
Committee Chair: Brenda Williams

Brenda began with a roll call of who will be attending the AVCA Convention. She then went through the list of both NAIA and General Meetings that will take place at the Convention.

III. DIRECT QUALIFICATION/RECOGNITION
NAIA National Office: Ruth Stein

There is a summary of the Direct Qualification implementation plan available - an email was sent out by Lori Thomas. Ruth explained some of the implementation process to the committee. There was some question as to how independents fit into the new Direct Qualification system. There will be more discussion on this topic at the meetings at Convention.

The NAIA is seeking ideas from the coaches associations as to the number of people being recognized and the possibility of a regional recognition process through the AVCA.

IV. COMPETITION AND RECOGNITION COMMITTEES

We would like to update the structures and responsibilities of our Competition and Recognition Committees (along with the AVCA HCC) to have them added to our NAIA Coaches Manual.

a. Competition Committee Update (Mike Gibson) - Be ready for discussion/suggestions on Direct Qualification at Convention.

Any questions concerning Direct Qualification need to be emailed to the Competition Committee so we can put these questions before the Task Force.

V. CONVENTION AGENDAS
If any region would like to make any proposals for volleyball that would be included in the business meeting, they should be emailed to VCA officers or to the appropriate committee chair this week. Such things as stats, certified line judges, rule considerations, and legislative items all should be put in writing with the proposal, rationale, and the group presenting it.

Next NAIA HCC meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. PT at the AVCA Convention.

Call adjourned at 11:56 a.m. (ET)
