Yu Chuan Weng, a 5-10 freshman outside hitter for No. 7 BYU-Hawai'i (3-0), has been named the AVCA/Sports Imports Division II National Player of the Week for leading the Seasiders to a sweep of preseason No. 1 Barry University, en route to the title at the Barry Invitational this past weekend. Weng averaged 5.89 kills, 3.33 digs, hit at a .436 clip (53-12-94) and was named most valuable player of the tournament. She totaled 17 kills and eight digs against Barry. Weng recorded double-doubles with 19 kills and 11 digs versus Florida Tech and 17 kills and 11 digs against Mercy. Weng hit .533 in the Florida Tech match, and followed that effort with four service aces and a .452 hitting performance against Mercy. Weng was also selected as the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.
