II. NEW HCC MEMBER introduction
Kim Norman of Westminster College (Utah) is the new representative for Region I. Todd Humphry of Freed Hardeman College is the new representative in Region XI.

Reminder to all committee members that you must be a member of the AVCA to be on one of the Head Coaches Committees. Get a report from your coaches in your regions about AVCA membership - encourage coaches in your region to sign up and renew.


Registration is now open for the 2007 AVCA Annual Convention in Sacramento, Calif. Visit the convention page on the AVCA Web site, for more information and to register for the convention.


The Head Coaches Committee will have a meeting at the Convention; if you cannot attend, please try and have someone from your region attend in your place.


IV. stats education
Remind coaches in your region that they can go to the NCAA Web site for the new statistics vides, The AVCA also sponsored a statistics seminar over the web in August. It is now available for watching in the Coaches Education section of the AVCA Web site.



Brenda is looking for someone to head up a committee to look into forming an NAIA webcasting match of the week schedule to be displayed on the AVCA Web site.


a. There was some discussion about the new substitution rule and how it affects the NAIA game. Several coaches voiced their displeasure over problems they have encountered early in the season in regards to the new rule.

b. There was also some discussion among the committee about problems with the method region raters are told to use.

c. Mike Gibson iterated that the points statistic is good for publicizing the sport, and helping people not as familiar with the sport understand what is going on. Mike also informed the committee that there is no word yet on Direct Qualification.
