No. 15 MSOE Loses to No. 7 Carthage in Tough Fought Match

Milwaukee, Wis. - The MSOE Raiders men's volleyball team fell to the Carthage College Redmen in five sets Thursday night at the Kern Center. MSOE won the two first sets 30-28 and 32-30 but Carthage won the last three sets 30-27, 30-21 and 15-11.

Senior outside hitter Mike Mocchi (Wheeling, IL/Buffalo Grove) led the way for MSOE with 21 kills. Junior outside hitter Bryce Kingsley (Middleton, WI/Middleton) had a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs. Senior right side Kevin House (Plainfield, IL/Central) also recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior middle hitter Dan Goray (Addison, IL/Addison Trail) was in double digits for kills with 11.

Sophomore setter Chris Brandt (Darien, IL/Hinsdale South) recorded 55 assists and had 10 digs for MSOE. Leading the way defensively for MSOE was sophomore libero Jon Holzbauer (Menomonee Falls, WI/Pius XI) who had 18 digs.

MSOE falls to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in Midwest-III Volleyball Conference matches. Carthage improves to 7-2 on the season and 1-0 in Midwest-III matches. Juri Veldre led the Redmen with 17 kills.

The Raiders are back in action on Friday, February 8 at 7 p.m. when they take on Cardinal Stritch University.
