Erica Duncan, a junior outside hitter from Skidmore College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. She earned the award for her MVP performance last week in helping lead the Thoroughbreds to the Skidmore Volleyball Classic Tournament title. In the first match of the event, Duncan hit .463 on 23 kills in 41 attempts and four errors, while adding six digs and two block assists in the sweep of St. Michael's. In her next match, she put away 20 kills, while chipping in eight digs, two aces and one block assist in Skidmore's 3-0 win over Hamilton. Duncan continued her strong play on day two of the tournament with a 17-kill, eight-dig, two-ace performance in the Thoroughbreds sweep of St. Lawrence. Duncan finished the tournament with her best effort of the week, putting away a Skidmore four-game-match record 34 kills in the 3-1 win over Union in the championship match. She also chipped in 16 digs to complete the double-double, plus two aces in the win. For the week, she averaged 7.23 kills, 2.92 digs and 7.77 points per game, while hitting .335. Duncan is the third player from Skidmore to earn Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week honors, and the first since Darryl Manzer received the award on October 11, 2004. The Thoroughbreds are coached by Hilda Arrechea.
