Lizzelle Cintron, a senior middle blocker for New Jersey City University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. In addition to this national player of the week nod, the sixth time she's earned the award in her career, Cintron was named New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the third week in a row and the 15th time in three years. She also became the first player in the history of the conference and the fourth in Division III history to record 2,500 career kills. In the Gothic Knights' six matches last week, Cintron hit at a .398 clip, and averaged 5.79 kills, 3.83 digs, 1.21 blocks and 6.81 points per game. In five of the matches, she notched double-doubles, to extend her career double-double achievement to 95 matches. Her top performances of the week came against Richard Stockton and Gettysburg. In the match against Richard Stockton, she had 31 kills (.481 hitting percentage) and 19 digs, while against Gettysburg she put away 37 kills (.306 hitting percentage) and 21 digs. Cintron is the only player from New Jersey City University to be named Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. The Gothic Knights are coached by Christopher Feliciano, who recently recorded his 100th career win on September 20.
