Tamijo Foronda, a senior outside hitter for Gallaudet, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week after helping her team to four wins last week. In the Bison's win over St. Mary's (MD), Foronda put away 37 kills in 72 attempts for a .460 hitting percentage. She also had 13 digs in the match. In her next match against Catholic, she had 21 kills in 57 attempts, a .250 hitting percentage and 15 digs. She followed that up with a 22 kill, .500 hitting percentage, 13 digs performance in the win over Lebanon Valley, and then finished up the week with a 23 kill, .629 hitting percentage, 14 dig match in Gallaudet's win over Scranton. For the week, Foronda average 7.92 kills per game, a .436 hitting percentage and 4.23 digs per game. Foronda is the third player from Gallaudet to earn the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week honor and the first since 1995. The Bisons are coached by Lynn Ray Boren.
