Becca Shane, a senior middle hitter for seventh-ranked Concordia College (Minn.), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. Shane led the Cobbers to two wins during the week, both against CSTV/AVCA Top 25 teams. In an upset of #4 St. Thomas (Minn.), Shane led the way with 27 kills, hit for an outstanding .462 percentage, and added 10 blocks. Later in the week against #16 Carleton, she put away another 20 kills and added five blocks, hitting .349 for that match. For the week, Shane, who is the Concordia record-holder for kills per game and blocks per game, averaged 5.9 kills per game, 1.9 blocks per game and hit a noteworthy .411. She also contributed seven digs and three service aces. Shane is the first player from Concordia College (Minn.) to receive the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week.
