Beth Fledderjohann, a 5-10 senior middle blocker for 16th-ranked College of Mount St. Joseph (27-9, 7-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week as the Lions won an eighth straight HCAC Tournament title. Fledderjohann hit .492 for the week while averaging 3.38 points, 2.9 kills, 0.83 blocks and 0.50 digs per game. She tallied seven kills and three blocks against Bluffton on Nov. 5. Fledderjohann hit .565 versus Hanover on Nov. 5 with 14 kills, three blocks and three digs. She tallied 14 kills on a .667 attack percentage in a three-game win over Defiance on Nov. 6, along with four blocks. Fledderjohann was named most valuable player of the HCAC Tournament. She averages 3.12 points, 2.53 kills, 1.03 blocks and 0.22 digs per game this season while hitting .257. Fledderjohann is the first Lion player to receive the national honor. The Mount St. Joseph head coach is Michele Benoit.
