Katie Laucks, a 5-10 senior middle blocker for second-ranked Juniata College (28-1, 6-0 Commonwealth), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week as the Eagles went 4-0 last week. Laucks hit .423 for the week with averages of 4.23 kills and 0.85 blocks per game. She hit .667 versus Messiah with 10 kills and three blocks in two games. Laucks charted 15 kills, five blocks and two aces in a five-game victory over fourth-ranked New York University. She tallied 17 kills with a .463 attack percentage and two blocks in a win over Carnegie Mellon. Laucks contributed a .522 attack percentage with 13 kills in a sweep of 21st-ranked Eastern. She averages 3.48 kills and 0.89 blocks per game this season with a .381 hitting percentage. Juniata has earned the national honor 11 times with the most recent honoree being Stephanie Kines on Nov. 8, 2004. The Juniata head coach is Larry Bock.
