Megan Houck, a 6-0 senior middle blocker for top-ranked Washington University in St. Louis (23-0, 7-0 UAA), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week as the Bears went 4-0 last week with two top-four victories. Houck averaged 5.09 points, 3.36 kills, 1.55 blocks and hit .457 on 70 swings. She hit .600 with seven kills and three blocks in two games versus Rochester. Houck produced six kills in two games versus Case Western Reserve. She attacked at a .520 mark with 13 kills and eight blocks in a four-game victory over fourth-ranked New York University. Houck finished the week with 11 kills, six blocks and a .450 hitting percentage in a sweep of third-ranked Emory. The Bears are 11-0 against ranked teams in 2005. A Washington University player has earned the national honor 19 times, including Whitney Smith on Sept. 12, 2005. The Washington University head coach is Rich Luenemann.
