Lizzelle Cintron, a 5-9 sophomore middle blocker for New Jersey City University (9-4, 0-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. Cintron led the Gothic Knights to four wins with averages of 6.27 points, 4.60 kills, 1.80 blocks, 4.27 digs and 0.47 aces per game while hitting .441 Cintron hit .414 in a three-game win over Ramapo with 16 kills, nine digs and six blocks. She helped NJCU to a five-game upset of Rutgers-Newark with a .442 hitting percentage, 24 kills, 21 digs and seven blocks. Cintron charted 14 kills, 20 digs and six blocks in a four-game win over St. Joseph's (N.Y.). She finished the week with 15 kills, 14 digs, eight blocks and a .579 attack percentage versus Centenary. She averages 6.61 points, 4.73 kills, 1.88 blocks, 4.05 digs and 0.54 aces per game while hitting .397 for the season. Cintron, who also earned the award last year on Sept. 7 and Nov. 1, is the only Gothic Knight to receive the national honor. The New Jersey City head coach is Christopher Feliciano.
