Lizzelle Cintron, a 5-9 freshman middle blocker for New Jersey City University (26-5, Independent), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week for the second time this year after pacing the Gothic Knights to three victories this week. Cintron averaged 10.80 points, 8.90 kills, 1.90 blocks and 5.60 digs per game while hitting .461 on 152 attempts. She charted 31 kills, 25 digs and six blocks versus Mount Saint Mary while hitting .382. Cintron totaled 26 kills on a .595 attack percentage against St. Joseph's (N.Y.). She added 16 digs and eight block assists in the victory. Cintron chalked up 32 kills, 15 digs and five block solos versus Stevens Tech while hitting .450 in the championship of the Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. She has now hit 30 kills in a match seven times this season. Cintron, who earned the honor also on Sept. 7, 2004, is the only Gothic Knight to win the national award in school history. The New Jersey City University head coach is Christopher Feliciano.
