Courtney Rose, a 5-10 sophomore outside hitter for 12th-ranked Emory University (23-6, 6-1 UAA), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to a 3-0 record with wins over top-ranked Wittenberg, third-ranked Cal State Hayward and Dubuque. Rose averaged 4.17 kills, 2.83 digs and 0.17 aces per game while hitting .530 on 83 swings. She hit .650 with 13 kills versus Dubuque on Oct. 22. Rose followed with 20 kills on 29 errorless swings for a .690 attack percentage against Cal State Hayward the same day. She also chipped in 14 digs in the four-game victory. Rose finished the weekend with 17 kills and 15 digs against Wittenberg. She was named most valuable player of the Emory National Invitational. She increased her season averages to 3.29 kills and 2.63 digs per game, while raising her cumulative attack percentage to .303. Rose is the fourth Eagle to win the national award in school history. The Emory University head coach is Jenny McDowell.
