Sarah Yuskewich, a 6-0 senior setter for third-ranked Wittenberg University (9-1, 0-0 NCAC), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to a 2-1 mark against ranked teams at the Teri Clemens Invitational in St. Louis. She averaged 16.78 assists, 1.11 kills, 1.33 digs, 0.22 blocks and 0.22 aces per game. Yuskewich tallied 43 assists with four digs, two blocks and six kills while leading Wittenberg to a sweep of 14th-ranked Trinity (Texas). She guided the team to a .333 team attack percentage with 52 assists in a sweep versus fourth-ranked Juniata and finished the week with 56 assists and six digs in a three-game loss to fifth-ranked Washington University. Yuskewich broke the North Coast Athletic Conference record for career assists and became just the 17th player in NCAA Division III to surpass 5,000-career assists. Yuskewich also won the award on Nov. 4, 2002, marking the sixth time the Tigers have been selected for the national award. The Wittenberg head coach is Paco Labrador.
