Laura Wagner, a 5-11 junior middle blocker for 12th-ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (26-4, 7-1 WIAC), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week for leading the Eagles to a 5-0 record. All of the team's wins were sweeps with the exception of a 3-1 victory over Augustana (Ill.) at the UW-La Crosse Halloween Classic where she was named to the all-tournament team. Wagner pounded double-figure kills in four of the five matches and registered kill-dig double-doubles in two of the five outings (12 kills and 10 digs against Coe and 19 kills, 10 digs and seven blocks versus Augustana). She had a lone hitting error in three of the five matches, with a top hitting percentage of .640 against Augsburg (17-1-25). Wagner averaged 4.38 kills, 1.81 digs and 1.50 blocks, while hitting at a .436 clip, all bettering her current season averages. The Eagles have clinched their ninth Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title in school history and first since the 1986 season. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse head coach is Sheila Perkins.
