Katie Reynolds, a 6-2 senior outside hitter for the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) (19-2), has been selected the AVCA/Sports Imports Division III National Player of the Week for leading the Tommies to a 4-1 record and a sweep of No. 17-tie Ithaca. Reynolds pounded 116 kills in 18 games for a 6.44 per game average, en route to breaking two UST records. She registered 36 kills, 24 digs and hit .589 as the Tommies took second-ranked Cal State Hayward to five games. Reynolds' kill effort was a St. Thomas best for single-match kills. Her weekly tally gave her the school's career kills record as well with 1,615. Reynolds had 20 or more kills in three of five matches, hit .396 or better in four of those outings and collected 20 or more digs twice. On the week she averaged 4.89 digs, 0.81 blocks and hit .478. This marks Reynolds' second AVCA/Sports Imports National Player of the Week honor of 2002 (Sept. 16).
