Andy Sipe, a 6-6 middle blocker for then-No. 4 Springfield, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week for his strong play in helping the Pride sweep then-No. 2 Juniata for the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Division III Championship on Saturday, April 7. In the match, Sipe slammed 11 kills in 17 attempts with only two errors for a .529 hitting percentage. He also added three digs and six total blocks in the win.  The EIVA Division III title earns Springfield a berth into the 2007 Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball ChampionshipSM to be played this weekend in Huntingdon, Pa.  In addition to his Player of the Week selection, Sipe was also selected to the AVCA Division III Men's First Team All-AmericaSM, announced earlier today.  Sipe's honor marks the 13th time that a player from Springfield has been named Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week and the first since Brandon Mueller was selected on February 2, 2004. The Pride is coached by Charlie Sullivan.
