T.J. Bellei, a 6-8 middle blocker for then-No. 3 Carthage College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. He earned the award thanks to his strong play in helping the Red Men win the Division III Midwest Invitational Tournament title this past weekend, which included two wins over then-No. 2 UC Santa Cruz.  Bellei started the week with 10 kills in 18 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, one dig and one solo block in Carthage's 3-1 win over NAIA No. 8 Cardinal Stritch.  Bellei then helped Carthage to an opening round sweep of No. 10 Clarke at the Division III Midwest Invitational by putting away six kills in nine attempts for a .556 hitting percentage. He also had one dig and three total blocks in the win.  In the semifinals, the first of two meetings against UC Santa Cruz, Bellei had 18 kills in 27 attempts for a .556 hitting percentage, while also adding four digs and eight total blocks in the 3-2 Red Men win.  Carthage then faced UC Santa Cruz again in the championship match, where Bellei put away 16 kills in 24 attempts for a .583 hitting percentage, while also chipping in two digs and one block in the 3-1 title win.  For the week Bellei average 3.12 kills, a .551 hitting percentage, 0.81 blocks and 3.94 points per game.  This is the third time Bellei has won the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week award. He also won it February 14, 2005 and January 17, 2006.  It is also marks the fifth time overall that a Carthage men's volleyball player has won the award.  The Red Men are coached by LJ Marx.
