Matt Fritz, a 6-4 outside hitter for No. 1 Juniata College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. Fritz earns the honor after his outstanding performances last week against two nationally ranked opponents - No. 6 Stevens and No. 5 Springfield. In the Eagles' sweep of Stevens, Fritz tallied 12 kills on 29 attempts for a .310 hitting percentage, adding five digs. He followed that up with a career-high 28 kills on 50 attempts for a .420 hitting percentage, adding three aces, three digs, and a season-high five total blocks in Juniata's five-game win over Springfield. For the week, Fritz averaged 5.0 kills, 1.0 digs, and 0.62 blocks per game, hitting .380. Fritz's award marks the seventeenth time a men's volleyball player from Juniata has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week award, and the first since Jeremy Barndt on April 10, 2006.  This marks the second time Fritz has won the award, garnering the honor February 13, 2006. The Eagles are coached by Jeremy Price.
