Ken McNeeley, a 6-6 middle blocker from Newbury College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week, for his outstanding play in helping his team win four matches last week.  McNeeley opened his week of play with 12 kills and only one error for a .524 hitting percentage, and two blocks in the Nighthawks' (12-5, 4-1 NECVA) three-game win over Johnson & Wales.  He followed that by helping his team defeat Lehman, Brooklyn and New Jersey City for the title of the 13th Annual New Jersey City Gothic Knight Invitational.  In the match against Lehman, McNeeley had seven kills and only one error for a .600 hitting percentage, and five total blocks, while playing in only two games of Newbury's 3-0 win.  Against Brooklyn, he scored 14 kills and only one error for a .619 hitting percentage, and six total blocks in the team's sweep.  He ended the week with his best match - 26 kills, .467 hitting percentage, four digs and seven total blocks - in a five-game thriller against NJCU.  For the week, McNeeley averaged 4.54 kills per game, a .526 hitting percentage and 1.54 total blocks and 5.81 points per game.  This is the second time that a men's volleyball player from Newbury has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week award; McNeeley also won the award on March 28, 2005.  The Nighthawks are coached by David Hildebrandt.
