Tom Maving, a 6-1 outside hitter for No. 8 Nazareth, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week.  Maving was named MVP of the Nazareth Invitational, as the Golden Flyers (12-3, 6-0 NECVA) won all four of their matches in the tournament, including two wins over ranked teams.  Earlier in the week, Nazareth also knocked off nationally ranked Medaille in three games.  Statistically, Maving had his three best matches of the week against the ranked opponents.  Against No. 12 Medaille on Tuesday night, he landed 14 kills on 21 attempts for a .524 percentage, adding five digs and two blocks.  Against No. 11 Eastern Mennonite on Friday night, he planted 18 kills on 32 attempts for a .438 percentage, adding nine digs and four blocks.  On Saturday against No. 9 D'Youville, Maving pounded 22 kills on 38 attempts, a .500 percentage, complemented by six digs and two blocks.  For the week, in five total matches, the Golden Flyer junior averaged 4.22 kills, 1.44 digs, 0.56 blocks and 4.72 points per game, hitting .477.  Tom Maving is the first Nazareth men's volleyball player ever to receive the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week award.  The Golden Flyers are coached by Cal Wickens.
