TJ Bellei, a 6-6 sophomore middle blocker for Carthage College (1-2, 0-0 MIVA Coleman), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. Bellei attacked at a .538 percentage with averages of 3.00 kills, 0.55 blocks, 0.18 aces and 0.27 digs per game in the Red Men's opening three matches of 2006. He tallied 10 kills while hitting .389 in a three-game loss to NCAA Division I IPFW, which is ranked 15th in the CSTV/AVCA Division I-II Men's Coaches Poll. Bellei charted six kills on seven swings for an .857 hitting percentage in a sweep of sixth-ranked Stevens Institute. He added three blocks, two aces and an assist in the win over the Ducks. Bellei contributed 17 kills, five blocks and two digs in a five-game loss to Lindenwood, the NAIA's third-ranked team. He averaged 1.00 blocks per game for the week excluding Carthage's NCAA Division I contest against IPFW. Bellei also earned the national honor on Feb. 14, 2005. The Carthage head coach is LJ Marx.
