Andrew Cranford, a 6-5 freshman middle blocker for Stevens Institute of Technology (8-6, 1-0 NECVA), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. Cranford led the Ducks to the 9th Annual Stevens Invitational Championship trophy with four victories, including wins over three ranked opponents. He attacked a .444 clip and averaged 3.73 points, 2.86 kills, 1.20 blocks, 0.53 digs and 0.20 aces per game for the week. Cranford charted five kills, three digs and two aces while hitting .571 in a sweep of Hunter. He paced the Ducks to a four-game win over 14th-ranked Eastern Mennonite with 14 kills, six blocks, three digs and a .500 hitting percentage. Cranford recorded 10 kills and five blocks while hitting .471 in a four-game win over ninth-ranked Medaille. He concluded the week by hitting .357 with 14 kills and six blocks in a four-game win over seventh-ranked Rivier. Cranford averages 2.10 kills, 1.12 blocks, 0.39 digs and 0.16 aces per game while hitting .388 for the season. He is the first Stevens Institute player to earn the national award.
