Damon LaSalle, a 6-4 junior middle blocker for New Jersey City University (9-3, 3-2 NECVA Metro), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the WeekSM. LaSalle helped the Gothic Knights to a 4-0 record last week and extending their win streak to nine matches, the second longest in school history. LaSalle averaged 4.57 points, 2.93 kills, 1.86 blocks, 0.93 digs and 0.29 aces per game while hitting .533 for the week. He hit .769 with 11 kills on 13 swings during a sweep of Mount St. Vincent, in addition to three blocks, five digs and two aces. LaSalle charted nine kills and six blocks while hitting .500 versus CCNY in the first of three matches on Feb. 18. He sparked NJCU to a sweep of Lehman with nine kills on .548 hitting. LaSalle rallied the Gothic Knights from a 2-1 deficit to defeat 14th-ranked Ramapo in five games as he tallied a school-record 15 blocks to go with 12 kills on a .400 attack percentage. He averages 4.46 points, 3.00 kills, 1.96 blocks and 1.07 digs per game with a .480 attack percentage. LaSalle is the first Gothic Knight to receive the national honor.
