Nate Ocasio, a 6-4 junior right side/opposite hitter for top-ranked Juniata College (7-9, 3-6 EIVA Tait), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the WeekSM. Ocasio paced the Eagles to a road win over second-ranked New York University and a five-game loss to NCAA Division I Princeton. He averaged 5.44 points, 4.62 kills, 2.25 digs and 0.62 blocks per game while hitting .388 in the two matches. Ocasio tallied a season-high 22 kills, 12 digs, three blocks and three service aces while hitting .356 in the loss to Princeton on March 18. He attacked at a .455 clip while collecting 15 kills, six digs, two blocks and an ace in Juniata's sweep of NYU on March 19. The win was the Eagles' 18th straight over NCAA Division III opponents. Ocasio improved his season averages to 4.62 points, 4.04 kills, 1.08 digs and 0.52 blocks per game. He is hitting .244 for the season. An Eagle has now won the national honor 15 times, the last being Matt Fritz on Feb. 13, 2006. The Juniata head coach is Ken Shibuya.
