Jeremy Barndt, a 6-5 junior middle blocker for top-ranked Juniata College (12-11, 3-8 EIVA Tait Division), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the WeekSM. Barndt led the Eagles to their third consecutive Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball ChampionshipSM last week with sweeps over Stevens Institute of Technology and University of California at Santa Cruz. He hit a combined .679 for the two matches with averages of 4.25 points, 3.33 kills, 0.83 blocks, 0.50 aces and 0.50 digs per game en route to earning the most valuable player award. Barndt hit .706 versus Stevens Institute with 13 kils, two blocks and two digs in the semifinal round. He contributed seven kills on .636 hitting in the championship match against UC Santa Cruz, in addition to three blocks and two aces. Barndt recorded just one attack error for the week on 28 swings. He averages 3.51 points, 2.62 kills, 1.23 blocks, 0.66 digs and 0.23 aces per game this season with a .394 attack percentage. Barndt is the 16th Eagle to earn the national honor and the third Juniata recipient this year as Matt Fritz was tabbed with on the honor Feb. 13 and Nate Ocasio was selected on March 20. The Juniata head coach is Ken Shibuya.
