Matt Springer, a 6-3 junior outside hitter for top-ranked Juniata College (1-2, 0-0 EIVA Tait Division), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. Springer led the Eagles to a three-game victory over NCAA Division I opponent St. Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 19. He contributed a career-high 15 kills with a .565 attack percentage in the victory. Springer added three digs, three block assists and a set assist. He averaged 5.00 kills, 1.00 digs, 1.00 blocks and 0.33 assists per game for the week. Springer increased his season averages to 1.67 points, 2.44 kills, 0.89 digs and 0.33 blocks per game, while lifting his season attack percentage to .333. Juniata had a Jan. 22 match with East Stroudsburg cancelled due to snow. Springer is the 10th Eagle to earn the national honor in school history. The Juniata College head coach is Ken Shibuya.
