Ricky Ziegler, a 6-5 senior setter for top-ranked Juniata College (7-6, 3-3 EIVA Tait), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. Ziegler led the Eagles to a 3-0 record last week, including victories over the number-two and number-three ranked teams in the CSTV/AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll. He averaged 2.50 points, 14.50 assists, 1.40 blocks, 1.20 digs and 1.00 kills per game in the three matches. Ziegler led the Juniata offense to a combined team hitting percentage of .385, in addition to his personal hitting percentage of .643. He recorded 50 assists and four blocks in a three-game win over NCAA Division I St. Francis on Feb. 22. Ziegler paced Juniata to a .403 team hitting percentage versus third-ranked Springfield on Feb. 25, including 61 assists, seven blocks, seven digs and five kills on a .714 hitting percentage. He finished the week leading the Eagles to a .430 attack percentage against second-ranked NYU with 34 assists, three blocks and three kills. Ziegler averages 13.76 assists, 0.73 blocks, 1.11 digs and 0.53 kills per game this season. He also earned the honor on Feb. 16, 2004, and is the 12th Eagle to be chosen for the national award. The Juniata head coach is Ken Shibuya.
