Greg Stanton, a 6-1 junior outside hitter for fifth-ranked Rivier College (27-5, 11-1 NECVA New England), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. Stanton hit .519 in four victories last week as he averaged 4.23 points, 3.76 kills and 0.46 blocks per game. He hit .615 with nine kills and two blocks in a three-game win over Emmanuel on March 16. Stanton tallied nine kills, three digs and a block solo in a three-game victory over NCAA Division II New Haven on March 18. He hit .545 with 15 kills against Wentworth on March 19. Stanton finished the week with 16 kills on a .583 attack percentage in a four-game victory over Bard on March 19. He added three block solos and two digs in the match. Stanton improved his season hitting percentage to .344, while increasing his per game averages to 3.05 points, 2.71 kills and 0.26 blocks per game. The Raiders have secured the national honor three times in school history, including twice in 2005 (Zack Stedman on Jan. 31). The Rivier head coach is Craig Kolek.
