Paul Carroll, a 6-7 right side/opposite hitter for then-No. 1 Pepperdine University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week.  He earned the award for his strong performance last week in wins over two top 10 opponents - then-No. 8 Cal State Northridge and then-No. 5 UC Santa Barbara.  In the match against Cal State Northridge, Carroll tallied 18 kills in 36 attempts with six errors for a .333 hitting percentage.  He added one ace, five digs and two total blocks in the 3-0 win.  He followed that up with 22 kills in 42 attempts and seven errors for a .357 hitting percentage in the Waves' 3-1 win over the Gauchos.  He added three aces, seven digs and eight total blocks.  The win over UC Santa Barbara gave Pepperdine an MPSF single-season record of 21 conference victories.  For the week, Carroll averaged 5.71 kills, a .346 hitting percentage, 1.71 digs and 1.43 blocks per game.  Carroll's honor marks the 16th time that a player from Pepperdine has been named Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week, and the second player this year, as Jonathan Winder earned the honor on February 5.  The Waves are coached by Marv Dunphy.
