Jayson Jablonsky, a 6-5 junior outside hitter for top-ranked UC Irvine (21-3, 14-2 MPSF), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the WeekSM. He paced the Anteaters to victories over 12th-ranked Southern California and fourth-ranked Pepperdine. Jablonsky averaged 5.21 points, 4.57 kills, 0.43 blocks, 2.71 digs and 0.43 aces per game while hitting .413 in the two matches. He contributed 15 kills, 10 digs, two blocks and a .500 attack percentage in the Anteaters' three-game win over Southern California on March 16. Jablonsky tallied 17 kills, nine digs, one block and three aces while attacking at a .351 clip in a four-game win over Pepperdine on March 18. He increased his season averages to 4.95 points, 4.26 kills, 0.63 blocks, 1.67 digs and 0.18 aces per game with a .358 cumulative hitting percentage. Jablonsky, who also earned the national honor on Feb. 13, 2006, is the fourth different Anteater to receive a total of five national player of the week honors in program history.
